About Happy Ageing Lab
Based in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Happy Ageing Lab Foundation is a think tank supported by ZeShan Foundation, Ho Cheung Shuk Yuen Foundation, and CUHK S-KPF, connecting academics, design and health professionals to innovate housing solutions for an ageing population. To promote ageing-in-place, intergenerational living, and healthy ageing, the Lab targets to expand the housing choices available in the market by developing implementable, innovative housing prototypes through research, knowledge exchange and industry engagement.
We are looking for one Research Intern to support our research development and R&D collaborations with a focus on housing design/ services for the ageing population.

About the Role
As a think tank, the Lab innovates housing solutions through field study and research, public engagement, and prototype experiments with our collaborators and the housing industry at large.
Your role as a Project Manager will lead a small team to plan and deliver self-initiated housing studies, consultancy projects, and collaborative research in the academic, private, and public sectors.
Our team faithfully believes every team member will bring something new, exciting and unique, whether it is your ideas, insights, experience, know-how, skills or even connections. To celebrate such autonomy, you will be expected to work independently, identify new directions, decide the study approaches, set the research tasks and schedule, and communicate with our docents, collaborators and stakeholders.
You will also work hand-in-hand with other senior members in grant applications and fund pitching.

Your Duty as Our Team Leader
+ Lead research and consultancy projects to innovate housing solutions for the ageing population with collaborators and industry stakeholders;
+ Coach a small research team to deliver high-quality research deliverables, such as reports, presentations, prototype experiments, and public engagement activities;
+ Assume project management and administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to, project scoping and planning, research activities design, budgeting, activities coordination and facilitation, data analysis, and stakeholder coordination;
+ Drive new directions for the Lab’s self-initiated research development for innovative housing solutions; and
+ Identify partnership opportunities for R&D collaborations to tackle the housing needs of our seniors in Hong Kong.
Requirements
+ Bachelor degree or above in social sciences, humanities, arts or related disciplines;
+ Preference will be given to candidates with Master degree, majoring in Gerontology, Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Social Work, Journalism, Architecture, Psychology, Public Health, or a related research-orientated degree;
+ Minimum two (2) years of experience in community-orientated and/or built environment consultancy project in an intermediate/leading position
+ Highly experienced in different research methodologies (including but not limited to case studies, questionnaire survey, in-depth interview and focus group), quantitative (SPSS or other equivalent programmes) and qualitative data (NVivo or other equivalent programmes) analysis, and community engagement and workshop organization;
+ Excellent report writing skills in both English and Chinese (writing samples are required);
+ Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English and Cantonese; fluency in Mandarin would be an advantage;
+ Excellent communications and interpersonal skills with the capacity to motivate and lead with enthusiasm and empathy;
+ A motivated team player with the ability to take self-initiatives in a collaborative working environment;
+ Excellent command on MS PowerPoint and Word, and experienced user in SPSS (or equivalent) and NVivo (or equivalent); and
+ Be able to work flexible hours for specific community engagement activities when required.
Candidates with less experience will be considered for a Project Coordinator position.
Preference
Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in research related to ageing, intergeneration, community health and well-being, and housing. Applicants who intend to work full-time in Hong Kong will be considered. The starting period will be early-Feb 2022, or as early as possible.
